BROADCAST RIGHTS HOLDERS
TSN/RDS has exclusive access and rights for all CFL games. No other media outlets are permitted to film video inside the stadium on game day without the prior written permission from The CFL and TSN/RDS. Once the game is over, media outlets are permitted to film interviews in the stadium as per the CFL’s media policy and team protocol.
LIVE STREAMING AT CFL STADIUMS/GAMES
The CFL strictly prohibits media from mobile live streaming (e.g., Periscope, Meerkat) inside CFL stadiums during all pre-season, regular season and playoff games, including the Grey Cup. Any live streaming inside the stadium on game-day until the final whistle is expressly prohibited. This includes all areas of the stadiums inside the bowl: on-field play, pre-game warmups, special on-field ceremonies, TV timeouts, spectator areas, press box and any pre-game or half-time shows.
Media are strictly prohibited from live streaming any portion of a CFL team practice. Any pre/post practice availabilities will be banned unless they receive permission from the team’s communications department.
Live streaming of pre/post-game interviews or any media availabilities that are accessible and opened to multiple news outlets will be prohibited unless they receive permission from the team’s communications department.
ACCESS TO PLAYERS AND COACHES
All player and coach interviews must be arranged through the EE Football Team Communications Department (see above for contact information). Players and coaches are also available daily following practice at the times noted in the practice schedule.
Media will receive a practice schedule weekly. All practices are open to the media unless otherwise noted. Media may watch practice from the east sidelines at Commonwealth Stadium in the designated area or the Bryan Hall Media Centre. When practice is held in the Commonwealth Field House, media may watch from the south sidelines. Please do not approach players or coaches during practice.
Filming times will be distributed to media weekly with the practice schedule. ENG cameras are welcome to film from the east sidelines at Commonwealth Stadium and from the south sidelines in the field house during these designated periods. All broadcast equipment must be removed from the practice field immediately after the designated filming periods. Broadcast media may be asked to turn off their cameras at the discretion of coaches or communications staff during the filming time. Camera personnel may not enter the playing field, unless permission has been granted.
HEAD COACH MEDIA CONFERENCE
Media conferences with head coaches of both teams will be held at Commonwealth Stadium the day before each home game. Times and location will be announced via media release with the practice schedule.
Season passes are issued to those members of the media who regularly cover the EE Football Team. Single game accreditation may be requested by contacting Cliff Fewings (see above for contact information) at least 72 hours before the game. All credentials are issued to a specific individual and are non-transferable. Single game credentials may be picked up at the coaches’ media conference the day before the game. All unclaimed passes will be available for pick-up game day at the EE Team Store two hours or less before kickoff, passes can be picked up at the ticket window at Gate 2 on the southwest side of the stadium.
Sideline photography during EE Football Team practices and home games is limited to working media on assignment from a recognized outlet. Working media credentials must be displayed at all times. Accredited sideline photographers must stay off the field of play during the game, stay out of the player boxes at all times and are prohibited from shooting from behind the player boxes without permission of the team. Photographers must also remain behind sideline signage. Photographers may access the field during pre-game ceremonies, special in-game ceremonies and halftime with approval from the EE Football Team and CFL.
ON-FIELD ACCESS DURING GAMES
Media are permitted to access the field when there is five minutes left in the fourth quarter for the purpose of preparing for post-game interviews. No filming or access to the team is permitted at this time. Requests for earlier admittance can be directed to Rose Mary Phillip at least one day prior to game day.
POST-GAME MEDIA AVAILABILITY
Prior to proceeding to their respective locker rooms, select players are made available for media interviews on the field following the conclusion of the game for a maximum of five minutes. Non-rights holders cannot interject a live interview being conducted by a broadcast rights holder. Non-rights holders cannot simultaneously interview any player(s) that are being interviewed live by the broadcast.
Approximately 15 minutes after the final whistle, the Eskimos locker room is open to all accredited media with immediate access to all players. The head coach will also be available for a post-game media conference.
GAME DAY MEDIA ENTRANCE
The Bryan Hall Media Centre is located on the west side of Commonwealth Stadium just north of Section C on the concourse level. Entrance to the stadium is located at Gate 4 or 2 on the west side of Commonwealth Stadium.
MEDIA CENTRE INFORMATION
The Bryan Hall Media Centre is for working members of the media only. Media Centre space is limited. Seating is not guaranteed. Media centre services include:
- team game notes, depth charts, CFL statistics and game day information
- play-by-play statistics provided at the end of each quarter and distributed throughout the game
- final statistics available approximately 20 minutes after the game
- transmission facilities: Phone lines are available as well as high-speed internet
- a pre-game meal will be served one hour prior to kick-off. Soft drinks and coffee are available throughout the game
