Three Eskimos Earn All-Star Honours

Today, Eskimos Adarius Bowman, Derel Walker and Almondo Sewell were named to the CFL All-Star Team for their performances in the 2016 season.

CFL All-Stars are selected by head coaches and the Football Reporters of Canada. This is the 54th year the league has recognized the season’s best as All-Stars.

#4 Adarius Bowman | Receiver
In 18 regular-season games (17 starts), Bowman recorded a team-record setting 120 receptions for a league-leading 1,759 yards and nine touchdowns. In the Eastern Semi-Final, Bowman recorded three receptions for 44 yards. In the Eastern Final, he recorded three receptions for 70 yards and two touchdowns. He was named a CFL Player of the Week for Week 3 and CFL Player of the Month for September. This is the third consecutive CFL All-Star nod for Bowman.

#87 Derel Walker | Receiver
In 18 regular-season games (17 starts), Walker recorded a career-high 109 receptions for 1,589 yards and 10 touchdowns. In the Eastern Semi-Final, he recorded three receptions for 40 yards. In the Eastern Final, he recorded six receptions for 96 yards. This is the second consecutive CFL All-Star nod for Walker.

The receiving duo of Bowman and Walker set two records in 2016. Week 18 marked the first time in team history there were two 100+ catch receivers in the same season. In Week 19, the pair broke the CFL record for most receiving yards by teammates with a combined 3,318 yards.

#90 Almondo Sewell | Defensive Tackle
In 18 regular-season games (18 starts), Sewell recorded 38 tackles, tops in the league for his position. He also recorded a team-leading 11 quarterback sacks which tied him for the league lead at his position. In the Eastern Semi-Final, he recorded three defensive tackles. In the Eastern Final, he recorded six defensive tackles and one quarterback sack. The native of Buff Bay, Jamaica was the Eskimos nominee for Most Outstanding Defensive Player. This is the fourth consecutive CFL All-Star nod for Sewell.
