Esks sign three, release one

(Edmonton) – The Edmonton Eskimo Football Club announces the signing of import defensive back Desmond Marrow, import kick returner Tavoy Moore  and import wide receiver Marcus Rivers.


Desmond Marrow

Defensive Back (import)

Born: Dec. 28, 1987 – Youngstown, OH

College: Toledo

Height: 6.03

Weight: 208


Marrow joins the Eskimos after spending time with the Houston Texans and Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season. During his collegiate career at the University of Toledo, he racked up 204 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, six interceptions, 29 knockdowns and two forced fumbles.  In 2011, he earned First Team All-MAC honours after leading the team with 83 tackles, intercepting three passes and ranking second in the conference with 14 pass breakups.


Tavoy Moore

Kick Returner (import)

Born: June 13, 1989 – Long Beach, CA

College: Central Washington

Height: 5.06

Weight: 196


Moore joins the Eskimos from Central Washington University. During his collegiate career, he had 69kickoff returns for 1,636 yards and two touchdowns and 35 punt returns for 497 yards and two touchdowns. In 2010, while attending Idaho State, he racked up several honours while making a name for himself on special teams, including Big Sky Special Teams Player of the Week, National Kick Off Returner and National Punt Returner of the Week.


Marcus Rivers

Born: Aug. 2, 1989Lackawanna, NY

College: Buffalo

Height: 6.05

Weight: 218


Rivers joins the Eskimos after signing as an undrafted free agent with the Green Bay Packers last year and later to the Calgary Stampeders’ practice roster.  In four seasons at the University of Buffalo, Rivers recorded 117 catches for 1,351 yards and eight touchdowns, placing him ninth on the all-time receiving yards list and 10th on the receiving touchdowns list.


The Edmonton Eskimos also announce the release of import defensive lineman Kade Weston. The University of Georgia product signed as a free agent on Oct. 2, 2012 and played in the final game of the regular season where he registered two defensive tackles.
