Acquired: Traded to Edmonton from Saskatchewan on Oct. 12, 2011 in exchange for a conditional selection in the 2014 CFL Canadian Draft.
2013: (Edmonton) In 15 games (15 starts), Charles has 112 carries 605 yards (5.4 yd. avg.) and three touchdowns and 24 catches for 202 yards (8.4 yd. avg.) and a touchdown and 24 kickoff returns for 550 yards (22.9 yd. avg.). In Week 2 against Hamilton, Charles scored a 70-yard TD, the longest rushing TD of his career. Charles was placed on the one-game injured list in Week 10 and Week 11 against Calgary. Charles returned to action in Week 12 against Winnipeg. In Week 13 against Winnipeg, Charles scored the game-winning touchdown on a 10-yard rush in overtime to help lead the Eskimos to a 35-27 victory. Charles finished the game with 11 carries for 81 yards. Charles was placed on the one-game injured list in Week 14 against Toronto, but made his return to the lineup in Week 15 against Montreal.
2012: (Edmonton) In 16 games (16 starts), Charles was the team's leading rusher with 170 carries for 887 yards and six touchdowns and 32 catches for 522 yards and two touchdowns, including a 76-yard TD in the Labour Day Classic. He was named the CFL's Offensive Player of the Week for his performance on Oct. 13 against Saskatchewan, when he rushed 17 times for 152 yards and a touchdown, caught one pass for nine yards and threw a 14-yard pass to QB Kerry Joseph for a first down. Charles started the Eastern Division semifinal and had six carries for 58 yards and one catch for 30 yards. He was on the injured list for the final two regular season games.
2011: (Saskatchewan/Edmonton) Before being traded to Edmonton, Charles played in six games for the Riders and posted 38 carries for 242 yds and one touchdown, 15 receptions for 94 yds and two TDs along with 14 kickoff returns for 296 yards. After becoming an Eskimo, Charles was on the reserve list for Week 16 and played his first game as an Eskimo on Oct. 29th as a kick returner and running back. In two games he had eight carries for 35 yards, three receptions for 51 yards and one kickoff return for nine yards. Charles also played in the Western Division semifinal recording four carries for 13 yards. Charles started the Western Division final registering eight carries for 53 yards and two catches for 28 yards and two kickoff returns for 33 yards.
Career: Charles appeared in 14 regular season games in his first three years with the Saskatchewan Roughriders (2008-2010), largely in a back-up role. Over that time he recorded 60 carries for 315 yards and five touchdowns and eight receptions for 126 yards and a touchdown.
College/Personal: Charles spent four seasons with the Colorado University Buffaloes. His senior year he had 199 carries for 1,059 yards and eight touchdowns. He had 11 career games with over 100 yards rushing, and racked up career totals of 551 rushes for 2,795 yards and 16 touchdowns and 24 receptions for 233 yards and a touchdown. He spends the off-season in Texas and enjoys the outdoors, fishing, golfing and boating.
