Acquired: Selected in the first round (2nd overall) by Edmonton in the 2011 CFL Canadian Draft.
2012: (Edmonton) Mitchell played in 12 games (six starts). Mitchell also started the Eastern Division semifinal. He was a reserve player in Week 1, Week 4 and Weeks 9-10. He was on the injured list for Week 11.
2011: (Edmonton) Mitchell played four games as a backup offensive lineman. He was on the reserve list for seven games and the injured list for seven games.
College/Personal: Mitchell started 38 consecutive games over four years at Rice University. He mostly played left tackle, but did spend a few games at right tackle. He majored in Sports Management. Mitchell was voted team MVP at St. Mark Catholic High School in Manotick, Ont. playing both offensive and defensive tackle for the Lions, who finished the season 11-0. He also played basketball, rugby and hockey. Mitchell also started at defensive tackle for Canada at the NFL Global Junior Football Championships, held as part of the Super Bowl XLI in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, winning a gold medal. His sister, Seanna, has represented Canada at several international swimming competitions and won a bronze medal as a member of its 4x100 freestyle relay.
