2010: (Edmonton) Ray has played eight games (eight starts) and has completed 147 of 220 passes (66.8%) for 1804 yards and six touchdowns. He has thrown six interceptions. He has also run the ball 10 times for 97 yards. He left the Aug 15 game in Cgy in the first half with a bruised sternum.

2009: (Edmonton) In 18 starts, Ray finished first in the league in passing with 4916 yards. He was 401 of 596 for 22 touchdowns against 12 interceptions. He also ran 47 times for 206 yards and six touchdowns, including a 27-yard touchdown run against Calgary on August 13. In Saskatchewan on Sept. 20, Ray completed all 16 of his first half passes and went 20 of 20 to become 2nd in CFL history in consecutive pass completions in a game (behind Jason Maas who completed 22 in 2004). Ray started the Western Semi-Final and was 18 of 30 for 162 yards. He also ran the ball four times for 17 yards and a touchdown.

Career: Ricky signed as a free agent with San Francisco 49ers, attended training camp and dressed for three pre-season games. He then played seven games for the Fresno Frenzy of Arena Football 2, where he was coached by former CFL quarterback and Eskimo assistant coach Rick Worman. Slotted as the Esks’ 3rd quarterback at the start of 2002 training camp, Ricky made his first appearance in Week 4 at Saskatchewan when starter Jason Maas was knocked from the game late in the fourth quarter. In 2003, Ray led the Eskimos to a Grey Cup victory. In 2004, Ricky signed with the New York Jets, dressing for five regular season games plus the AFC Wildcard Playoff and AFC Divisional Playoff, but did not see game action. He returned to Edmonton in 2005 and led the team to another Grey Cup Championship. In 2006 he finished first in the league in passing yards with 5000. He also had his best season rushing, running 92 times for 469 yards and nine touchdowns. In the first game of the season, Ray threw 33 completions which was the most pass completions in a CFL game in 2006. On September 30, he passed Tom Wilkinson to become first in career pass completions in Eskimo history. He was also selected to the West Division All-Star and CFL All-Star teams for the first time in his career. In 2007 Ray started the first 13 games of the season before suffering a separated shoulder on September 28 vs. Toronto.  Ray finished the 2008 season as the top quarterback in the league going 422 of 605 (69.8%) for 5,663 yards and 26 touchdowns against 17 interceptions in 18 games (18 starts).  He earned CFL Offensive Player of the Week honours four times during the ’08 campaign and was the Eskimo nominee for the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player Award.

College/Personal:  In two seasons at Sacramento State, Ray posted impressive numbers and is listed in five Sacramento State career passing record categories: 1st in completion percentage (.619), 3rd in completions (347), 3rd in touchdowns (33), 3rd in yards and 4th in attempts (561). Before his time at Sacramento State, Ray played two seasons (1997-1998) at Shasta Community College in Redding, CA. He was a first team All-American and California State Offensive Player of the Year in ‘98. Ray shattered numerous Shasta College records including career completion percentage, consecutive passes without an interception (199 over parts of 1997 and ‘98), consecutive games with at least one TD pass (15) and career pass completions. Ray attended Shasta High School where he played football, baseball and basketball. Ray and his wife Allyson live in St. Albert and spend the off-season in California.
