Cheer Team Tryouts


INFORMATION SESSION

Date: Wednesday January 27, 2010
Time: 7:00-8:00 PM
Location: Victoria School – West gym   10210-108 Ave

Come out and meet the 2010 Eskimo Cheer Team coaching staff. Take a glimpse at the 2010 schedule and get tips on how to prepare for tryouts. This is a great opportunity for you to meet others auditioning. Presentations will include time commitment, expectations and opportunities that are available.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school graduate by June 2010. 
  • Should be 18 years old by June 2010. 
  • Must be able to attend all cheerleader rehearsals for the entire season.
  • If selected, must live in or relocate to Edmonton and have means of transportation. 

 

GENERAL INFORMATION:

  • Final Auditions will be held on Sunday, March 14, 2010 at City Centre Mall on the Lower Level
  • Applications will be accepted now through registration on March 10, 2010.
  • To pre-register, please mail the attached registration form along with a full length photo of yourself to the address on form with $25 tryout fee payable to Edmonton Eskimo Football Club. (This is a non-refundable fee)
  • Photo must be full length shot in practice attire - ½ top and short (photos may not be returned).
  • Applicants' not pre-registered need to bring a completed application form, fee and photo to registration on the first day of auditions. Blank application forms will be available at registration or from this website.
  • The training portion of the audition process is CLOSED to the public.
  • The workshops and auditions will be challenging, so please bring your own snacks and drinks. 
  • Mirrors, restrooms and outlets will be available for your convenience and use

  WHAT TO WEAR:

  • Half top and short.
  • Dance shoes or Stunt shoes (runners, jazz shoes). 
  • Wear your hair in a fashion that compliments your features and does not hide your face.
  • The judges will rate you on and dance or stunt ability, poise, smile, personality, energy, fitness and overall impression.


OVERVIEW OF THE AUDITION PROCESS


1. OPTIONAL STUNT WORKSHOP- $10 fee

Date: Wednesday, February 10, 2010
Time: 6:00-8:00PM
Location: VICTORIA SCHOOL, West Gym 10210-108 AVENUE

Open to all potential Eskimo Cheerleaders interested in Stunt team. You will learn stunts that are required for tryouts and get personalized stunt training to prepare you for actual audition. As well you can test your fitness level and work on cheer and jumps.


2. OPTIONAL DANCE WORKSHOPS- $10 fee each

Session 1: $10 FEE Wednesday, February 17, 2010

Open to all potential Eskimo Cheerleaders who are considering dance team. You will learn one new dance per session that may be part of 2010 repertoire as well as test your fitness level and jump/cheer abilities.

SUCCESSFUL TEAM MEMBERS INFORMATION


BASIC INFORMATION

  • All official uniform wear and practice wear is provided including 5 uniforms, practice attire, track suit, fleece jacket, winter coat, shoes, sox and additional sportswear.
  • Cheerleaders are responsible for cleaning and maintaining their uniforms, poms, warm-ups and practice wear.
  • Cheerleaders must pay for lost or damaged uniforms. 
  • All Edmonton Eskimo uniforms must be turned in by December 3, 2010


PRACTICES

  • Twice per week on Wednesday evenings and Saturday.
  • Members missing practice jeopardize their opportunity to perform. Repeated absences will result in removal from the team.
  • Team members are expected to maintain top physical condition by working out at local gym clubs and fitness center in their spare time.
  • If you can not attend all rehearsals and games do not consider auditioning. 
  • Schedules are available on March 1 at the Eskimo office to confirm. 


COMPENSATION

 This is a volunteer job but all members receive:
