Marcello Simmons is in his first year with the Eskimos as the defensive backs coach.

Marcello spent the last two seasons in the CIS as the defensive backs coach with Acadia (2010) and Guelph (2011). In 2009 Marcello participated in the NFL Minority Coaching Fellowship with the Seattle Seahawks. Marcello began his coaching career as the Special Teams Coordinator and Defensive Assistant for the Toronto Argonauts for six seasons (2003-2008).

Marcello played in the CFL for seven years, including six as a Toronto Argonaut, one as an Edmonton Eskimo and a brief stint with the BC Lions. Before that he played in the NFL for the two seasons after being drafted in the fourth round (90th overall) by the Cincinnati Bengals in 1993. He played in every game as a rookie and started two games. He was the only one of two rookies drafted by the Bengals in 1993 to play in every game.

The Texas native graduated from Southern Methodist University with a B.A. in Advertising.
