Jason Maas and the rest of the Edmonton Eskimos are huge advocates of safety both on and off the field. Recently, Maas spent some time in Barrhead, Alberta with a film crew who produced an ATV safety DVD. Maas hosts the 10 minute video that highlights the five main safety points when dealing with ATVs.
“So many accidents happen on ATVs because people are not properly informed on the correct safety protocols when it comes to the recreation vehicles,” says Maas. “I was really happy to host this DVD and hope that people are cognizant of the fact that these points may save their lives.”
The DVD concentrates the following five points:
• No child/youth under the age 16 years of age should operate an adult ATV. The child/youth should only ride an ATV that is appropriate for their age, weight and maturity. Please follow manufacturers’ recommendations
• Wear an approved helmet with face and eye protection
• Drive sober! Alcohol, drugs and ATVs don’t mix!
• Refuse to carry or be a passenger on an ATV built for one person
• Take an ATV operator training course
