(Edmonton) – The Edmonton Eskimo Football Club crossed another name off their list of potential free agents with the re-signing of non-import linebacker Mike Cornell.

Cornell initially signed with the green and gold as a free agent in May 2011. He played in 18 games on special teams and saw some time at linebacker, recording three defensive tackles and 16 special teams tackles. In 2012, Cornell played in 12 games, recording one defensive tackle and 12 special teams tackles. He was on the injured list for games 12 – 17.

“Mike is a very talented individual who has established himself as a leader, especially on the special teams unit,” says Eskimo Head Coach Kavis Reed.  “He plays the game with a lot of passion and a lot of pride.”
