The Eskimos (4-0) put their unblemished record on the line against the Argonauts (1-3) in a game that pits the CFL’s stingiest
defence (Edmonton – 74 pts against) head-to-head with the league’s lowest scoring offence (Toronto-80pts for).
Last Saturday’s win over Calgary came with a heavy price for the Esks. Defensive end Greg Peach is gone 4–9 weeks with a
knee injury, while slotback Adarius Bowman is sidelined with broken ribs. The injuries force some changes on defence. Rookie
DL Robert Henderson will make his CFL debut, while newcomers linebacker Rico McCoy and defensive back Brian Bonner will
draw in.
While noone is drawing comparisons to the Five-in-a-Row era, a win Friday against Toronto put the 2011 edition of the Green
and Gold in some very good company. The Esks haven’t won five straight to start a season since 1980. Dating back to 2010,
Edmonton has won five straight at Commonwealth Stadium. The Esks have won 3 of their last 4 against Toronto and are 19-
12-0 vs. the Boatmen at Commonwealth.
Friday’s game is Military Appreciation Night presented by Capital Power. Edmonton’s local military will be celebrated
throughout the evening which will feature a pre-game flypast by Canada’s Snowbirds.
