(Edmonton) The Edmonton Eskimos have signed rookie free agent quarterback Eric Ward, a former four-year starter at the University of Richmond.

In 2008, Ward (6-2, 210 lbs) led the Spiders to a national championship, capping off a season in which he set school single season records for passing yards (2,808), attempts (359), completions (230) and completion percentage (64.1) and tied a school record for most touchdowns (17).  Ward finished his collegiate career with a record of 41 – 12, 784 completions on 1,264 attempts for 8,969 yards and 61 TDs.  He also posted 420 carries for 1,406 yds and 22 TDs.

Ward signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent in May 2010 and was waived in June 2010.  Most recently he has played with the Milwaukee Mustangs of the Arena Football League.
