(Edmonton) The Edmonton Eskimos have acquired import quarterback Steven Jyles, non-import kicker Grant Shaw and Toronto’s first selection (2nd overall) in the 2012 CFL Canadian Draft in exchange for quarterback Ricky Ray.

A veteran of six CFL seasons, Jyles returns to the city where he spent the first two years (2006, 2007) of his CFL career. He was traded to Saskatchewan in 2008 and spent two seasons with the ‘Riders. Jyles signed as a free agent with Winnipeg in 2010 where he enjoyed his best season as a pro, throwing 19 touchdowns. He was traded to Toronto in exchange for the Argo’s first round pick in the 2011 CFL Draft.
The Edmonton-born Shaw has spent the past two seasons with the Argos where he primarily handled kickoff duties. A 2009 Canada West all-star defensive back/kicker at the University of Saskatchewan, Shaw was Toronto’s second round selection (11th overall) in the 2010 CFL Canadian Draft.
After nine seasons with the Eskimos, Ricky Ray leaves behind an impressive body of work. Two time Grey Cup champion (2003, 2005), Grey Cup MVP (2005), CFL and West All-Star (2006), All time club leader in career passing yards, touchdown passes, yards passing in a single season (2008), pass completions in a single season, Grey Cup completions record (35-45 in 2005). This past season, Ray helped lead the Eskimos to an 11-7 finish and a berth in the CFL West Final.
